|
|
Last year, I posted the Bas Relief LP from Eleven Pond on my blog at http://goutroy.blogspot.com/
For those who've never heard it, go download it now. It's one of my all-time favorite post punk/minimal wave records ever. I'll wait...

Done yet? Okay, good.
Well, last night Jeff Gallea (bass/drum programs/vocals/keyboards) responded and mentioned that not only does he still have the master tapes, but there are also over a dozen unreleased Eleven Pond songs from the same era! His response:
"Who the heck posted this! Wow. Yes, 1986. Insane that people still remember us ! I co-wrote most of the music for Eleven Pond and James Tabbi wrote the lyrics. He was so fun to play with on stage. He would get into this gloomy/happy trance and teen girls would go ape-shit for him. we were influenced by the dark dance going on in the USA and England during the 80's. If people are interested in a re-release I would love some feedback? I'l dust off the Masters and see what could happen? Also lot's of unreleased tracks very similar to "Bas Releif". Maybe 16-18 tracks? On 4-track , 8-track and 16-track old school analogue tape.... Hello to my old band mates!!!!
-Jeff Gallea"
So I guess my question is, are there indeed people who would appreciate a rerelease? And can anyone suggest who he could contact to do a reissue? I'm sure we'd all like to hear the unreleased stuff at least.

|
|
Happened to be working at the same Radio Station as James Tabbi back when Eleven Pond started....Dan Brumley even did a great industrial radio show back then...
So I have a 11 Pond Demo Tap from Funky Records dated September 1987:
1. Watching Trees
2. Tear & Cinnamon
3. Portugal
4. Moving Nowhere
5. Days Hence
6. Tightrope
and also a Singles Tape dated 9/1/87 from Game Hen Productions (Melody James):
1. Blood Ruins Film
2. 'Kiss'
3. Gold & Green Lamb
4. Turn to Silence
If Jeff is listening...I'd love to share these as well...
Also, if James T. is up for it....there is also some Peach/Spleen floating around on a tape here as well... |

I heard Watching Trees at Wierd a couple of weeks ago and was immediately hooking. Apparently quite a few other people there are really hooked on that song and I was able to track the album down and it is pretty much stuck on repeat in iTunes.
I put Watching Trees in a mix I did on 8tracks:

I love vinyl. I would love to see this reissued on vinyl!!! Is Veronica up for this? |

At the very least a 4-track 12-inch with Watching Trees, Portugal, and maybe two unheard tracks that match up......... |

The long wait will soon be over. The entire Eleven Pond LP "Bas Relief" has been remastered and is currently at the pressing plant.
You'll be able to purchase a copy soon from my new record label: Dark Entries. |

| definitely a crown jewel and one of my favorite obscure records to date. also on the 'watching trees' bandwagon, and at least two people inquire when i spin it. would love to have a reissue proper, especially on crisp wax. |
